INDUCTION SYSTEM

The induction system defines how the engine receives the fuel and air it needs for combustion. The induction system includes carburetors and fuel injection systems as well as forced induction through blowers.

Carburetors are units that measure airflow and add specific amounts of fuel through jets. The number of "barrels" inside the carburetor and the maximum flow that the carburetor can handle typically defines a carburetor.

Fuel injection is controlled through either electronics or a mechanical mechanism. Fuel injection measures airflow, rpm and other settings and injects the proper amount of fuel into the air stream.
